Today’s truth: you probably could create a wildly successful offer without stunning visuals. The question is: do you want to? As a designer who has worked with course creators, coaches, digital product creators, and membership owners; I’ve been in the space long enough to have seen the good, the bad and the ugly when it comes to graphics. And yes, I’ve even seen business owners with cringey graphics rake in the 💵 This could totally be you. The question now is: would your dream client want this? I want you to think of the last time you received a package you purchased online that upon arrival made you so stinking happy. From the moment you saw it to the second you unwrapped it - everything about this gift was an experience to behold. The beautiful gift wrap, the way each item was carefully placed inside the package, even the smell had you feeling all the feels. Drop a comment below and tell me what this package was! I’ll go first… I bought collagen from a local small business (because damn do my bod need TLC after a third baby.) They packaged it in a tote made out of recycled plastic, along with a magnet to help me remember to actually take the supplement everyday. (Because Mom brain!!) I was already excited all morning waiting for the collagen to arrive. But, when I was surprised with these little extra bits, I instantly became a customer for LIFE! I’m going to come right out and say it: There IS something MORE important than branding 🤭 👏IM👏PLE👏MEN👏TA👏TION! Here’s what I mean… You may have a fantastic brand with all the bells and whistles, but if you are not applying your brand the way it’s meant to be applied (implementing it to communicate your message), you will lose the integrity of your brand identity. So, what happens if you are not implementing your brand correctly? 👉Your message will miss the people you are trying to reach because the first impression of your business is not being interpreted the way it was intended to. In a nutshell - your entire experience surrounding your business will collapse like a house of cards. Last week I shared something really random about myself - I live with a parrot who kinda, sorta hates me 😅 So, a bit of backstory… My father-in-law ran a successful auto-electric business from home for over 25 years and, truthfully, has been a big inspiration to me (unknowingly) as an entrepreneur. Last year he decided to retire, so my mother-in-law and him could enjoy what they’ve worked their entire lives for. About 2 months ago, they sold the family home and moved in with us - along with my father-in-law’s African Gray Parrot, Spanner 🦜🔧 Since most mornings the kids and I are up before the rest of the house, I’ll be the one to open Spanner’s cage. Naturally, I’ll greet him fondly and check that he is okay. But, all I get in return is the side eye, and a peck at the bars if I get too close 🙃 The reason I bring this story up is because this whole situation got me thinking about business, and how even though you show up doing everything “right” by your audience, there may still be people around who just don’t match your vibe. Dita Von Teese said it best: “You can be the ripest, juiciest peach in the world, and there's still going to be somebody who hates peaches.” So how do you find the people who looooves peaches? How do you surround yourself with an online community filled with people who won’t peck your fingers each time they see you? 😅 ANSWER: you show up for these people with a clear message that resonates with them and you ensure your brand communicates it in a way that is eye catching and attractive (to THEM). As a designer who has worked with course creators, coaches, digital product creators, and membership owners; I’ve been in the space long enough to have seen the good, the bad and the ugly when it comes to graphics. And yes, I’ve even seen business owners with cringey graphics rake in the 💵 This could totally be you. The question now is: would your dream client want this? I’ll go first… I bought collagen from a local small business (because damn do my bod need TLC after a third baby.) They packaged it in a tote made out of recycled plastic, along with a magnet to help me remember to actually take the supplement everyday. (Because Mom brain!!) I was already excited all morning waiting for the collagen to arrive. But, when I was surprised with these little extra bits, I instantly became a customer for LIFE! This is what visuals can do for your online offer - it gives MORE to the experience of working with you. Well designed graphics can leave a lasting impression that will make your audience love what you’re selling. So yes. You probably can get by with those cringe graphics. Your content, strategies and teachings are worth its weight in gold - don’t get me wrong, I know this. But, creating a memorable experience with your visuals will be that extra special touch that EXCITES anyone investing in your offer (Because buyers remorse is a real thing!) Happy September!! In South Africa, September marks spring, which of course comes with a desire for some sort of change. This got me thinking about all those posts I’ve been seeing that give you the signs you may be ready for a rebrand. But what if you DON’T need a rebrand? Here’s what I mean… You may have a fantastic brand with all the bells and whistles, but if you are not applying your brand the way it’s meant to be applied (implementing it to communicate your message), you will lose the integrity of your brand identity. Last week I shared something really random about myself - I live with a parrot who kinda, sorta hates me 😅 So, a bit of backstory… My father-in-law ran a successful auto-electric business from home for over 25 years and, truthfully, has been a big inspiration to me (unknowingly) as an entrepreneur. Last year he decided to retire, so my mother-in-law and him could enjoy what they’ve worked their entire lives for. About 2 months ago, they sold the family home and moved in with us - along with my father-in-law’s African Gray Parrot, Spanner 🦜🔧 Since most mornings the kids and I are up before the rest of the house, I’ll be the one to open Spanner’s cage. Naturally, I’ll greet him fondly and check that he is okay. But, all I get in return is the side eye, and a peck at the bars if I get too close 🙃 The reason I bring this story up is because this whole situation got me thinking about business, and how even though you show up doing everything “right” by your audience, there may still be people around who just don’t match your vibe. Dita Von Teese said it best: “You can be the ripest, juiciest peach in the world, and there's still going to be somebody who hates peaches.” So how do you find the people who looooves peaches? How do you surround yourself with an online community filled with people who won’t peck your fingers each time they see you? 😅 ANSWER: you show up for these people with a clear message that resonates with them and you ensure your brand communicates it in a way that is eye catching and attractive (to THEM).
